Sheriff Chris Kirk congratulates newly promoted Patrol Deputy Jerry Basey

Jerry was promoted to the Patrol Division on May 5, 2015. He began his career with the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office in September of 2012 as a detention officer; after retiring from the Army as a Sergeant with 20 years of service. Jerry graduated from the TEEX Basic Peace Officer’s Academy in December of 2014, and was promoted to the Work crew Division in March of 2015.

Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk congratulates newly promoted Sergeant Michael Stumpf. Sgt. Stumpf was promoted on March 6, 2015. Sgt. Michael Stumpf was born and raised in South West Houston and moved to the Bryan / College Station area in 2000 to attend college. Sgt. Stumpf first worked at the Brazos County Emergency Center 911 in 2001 and worked there until July 2004 when he was accepted as a patrol officer for College Station Police Department.

Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk congratulates newly promoted Patrol Deputy Stephen Garon. Deputy Garon started working at The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office in November 2011 as a Detention Officer. Deputy Garon is a native of College Station, Texas. He received his Peace Officer license in December 2013 where he earned the honor of being the class Valedictorian. Garon is currently assigned to the Brazos County Detention Center as a CIT Deputy and will transfer to the Patrol Division. He is a member of the SERG Team and The Honor Guard.

January 2014 Appointments

Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk recently appointed four individuals as Deputy Sheriff’s. Jason Wager and Paul Prestwood were appointed as new Deputies, and Eric Caldwell and Christopher Braly as new Reserve Deputies. These four Deputies graduated from the CAPCOG/ BVCOG inaugural Basic Peace Office Academy in Brazos County on January 24, 2014.

New Member of BCDC Crisis Intervention Team

Bryan, Texas, February 25, 2014 - Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk congratulates newly promoted CIT Deputy Stephen Garon. Deputy Garon started working at The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office in November 2011 as a Detention Officer.  Deputy Garon is a native of College Station, Texas.  He received his Peace Officer license in December 2013 where he earned the honor of being the class Valedictorian. Garon is currently assigned to the Brazos County Detention Center as an Intake and Release Deputy and will transfer to the CIT Division in March.

Brazos County Welcomes 7 New SERG Members

Bryan, Texas, February25, 2014 - The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office would like to welcome 7 new members to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office SERG Team. These 7 deputies completed a hard week of SWAT training put on by the Texas Engineering Extension Service, TEEX.

BCSO Livestock Unit Recognized Rabies - Potentially Saved a Life

Bryan, Texas, July 31, 2014

On July 30, 2014, Brazos County Sheriff’s Office Livestock Deputy’s William Kristof and Jason Wager were commended for potentially saving the life of a Brazos County resident who had been bitten by a rabid kitten.

On Friday, May 3, 2014 Deputy Jason Wager was visiting with the victim in this case.  During his conversation, the victim asked him about trapping an animal that needed a rabies vaccination. Deputy Wager became aware that the victim had come into contact and had been bitten by a kitten that was acting strange and later died.

Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk recently appointed two individuals as Deputy Sheriff’s in the Reserve Division, Robert Kirk and Kyle Thigpen.

Deputy Robert Kirk graduated from the CAPCOG/ BVCOG inaugural Basic Peace Office Academy in Brazos County on January 24, 2014 and was appointed on May 1, 2014. Robert is the Admin. Director of the Lab at the College Station Medical Center

Female Jail Deputy Promoted to Patrol

Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk, Chief Deputy Jim Stewart and Jail Administrator Wayne Dicky congratulate newly promoted Deputy Laura Buttgenbach to the Sheriff’s Patrol Division. Deputy Buttgenbach is currently assigned to the Brazos County Detention Center as an Intake and Release Deputy. She started working at The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office in December 2010 as a Detention Officer; she received her Peace Officer license in June of 2013; and she has just completed the SWAT school and serves as a member of the SERG Team.

Deputy Awarded Kiwanis Club Office of the Year 2014

Bryan, Texas, May 28, 2014 - Brazos County Deputy James Hall received the Police Officer of the Year Award from the Kiwanis Club of College Station on May 6, 2014. During the ceremony, Deputy James Hall was recognized as the Police Officer of the Year for his extraordinary service to the Sheriff’s Office and community. Deputy Hall started his career as Reserve Deputy in 1994 and became a full time Deputy/ Jailer in 1996. After serving two years in the Detention Center he was promoted to the Sheriff’s Patrol Division.

New Sergeant selected for BCDC CIT Division

Bryan, Texas, June 29, 2014 - Brazos County Sheriff's Deputy Garrett House has been promoted to sergeant of the CIT division. House is assigned to the Brazos County Detention Center. He has been a peace officer for six years and began working at the Brazos County Sheriff's Office in 2012 as a detention deputy before transferring to the CIT division. House completed SWAT school in February and serves as a member of the SERG Team.
